Story & history

Radish in a sweet-salty pastry

This account describes a tradition or story, rather than an established historical fact.

Old Beijing pastry traditions also use vegetables in sweet-salty fillings. Radish, osmanthus and candied strips give this baked pastry a different character from an ordinary savory vegetable pie.
