Goji shoot infusion

Goji shoot infusion

枸杞芽茶Gǒuqǐ yá chá

A pale yellow-green infusion of processed young goji shoots, with a gentle leafy aroma and faint sweetness. It uses the shoots rather than red goji berries and is not Camellia tea.

Specification
Young goji shoots are withered, heat-treated, rolled and dried. Steep the processed shoots in hot water, then separate the liquid from the leaves. The wider goji-leaf-tea category includes tender-leaf and shoot products, in curled strips or rounded forms. This version uses processed young shoots and water.

How to enjoy it

Sip after it has cooled enough to drink. Use a strainer or leave the opened shoots behind in the cup; they are not a topping to swallow.

A useful check

The plain infusion has no milk or honey. Check any blend separately; do not infer a caffeine-free product from the name alone.
