Wuzhou Liubao tea

Wuzhou Liubao tea

梧州六堡茶Wú zhōu liù bǎo chá

A Guangxi dark tea associated with Liubao in Cangwu, Wuzhou. Its clear amber-red to reddish-brown infusion is mellow and can develop woody, aged aromas. Leaf treatment and storage shape the cup, so Liubao teas do not all taste alike.

A LITTLE SOMETHING TO READ

Story & history

Wuzhou Liubao tea

This account describes a tradition or story, rather than an established historical fact.

Liubao takes its name from the tea-growing town in Cangwu. Family workshops and larger producers preserve different expressions of its dark-tea craft; aging is part of the tradition, not a guarantee of quality.
